Essential Oils vs Fragrance Oils
A lot of thought goes into the ingredients that go into our candles and wax melts. We offer both essential oil and fragrance oil options, but what are the differences between the two?
Essential Oils
Essential oils are 100% natural, plant-based oils extracted directly from flowers, leaves and herbs like lavender, eucalyptus or orange. They are perfect for those who value natural living and love subtle, earthy scents.
The scent throw can be slightly more delicate compared to fragrance oils and there are limitations in the range of scents available. Some botanicals including sandalwood raise ethical sourcing concerns related to overharvesting; as such we are committed to never using protected plant species in our essential oil blends.
Essential oils are more expensive to purchase given the volume of plant oils required to produce them. They are often chosen for their calming, energising or grounding effects.
Fragrance Oils
Fragrance oils are mostly synthetic or blended oils designed specifically for their vibrant scent throw performance. They make it possible to create aromatic experiences that aren’t naturally derived, including fresh linen, salted caramel or cinnamon orange.
Whilst the synthetic nature of some fragrance oils may not appeal to those seeking only natural ingredients, all of our fragrances are paraben-free, cruelty-free and vegan, so you can enjoy beautiful and ethically sourced scents whatever your preference.
Fragrance oils are a less expensive ingredient and can be more easily blended to produce unique scents. They are often chosen for their invigorating and evocative aromatic effects.
